Exporting Inventory
Export your Shopify inventory to a CSV or Excel file — across one store or all your connected stores at once. Each inventory item carries its SKU and stock totals summed across locations, and you can drill into a per-location breakdown when you need to see where the stock actually sits.

What you can export
In Simple mode you pick from a curated list of the fields merchants export most. The key ones:

| HS Code / Country of origin | Customs fields for the item. |
| Store | The store each item belongs to, added when you export several shops. |
| Location name, Location available/on hand/committed/incoming | Per-location stock (fans the export into one row per location). |
Template (Advanced) mode opens the full column tree — every quantity state, plus product and variant ids — and lets you rename column headers.
One row per location
By default an inventory export is one row per inventory item, with the
quantity columns summed across all locations (matching Shopify's inventory
screen). When you add any per-location column (Location name, Location
available, and so on), the export expands to one row per location, with the
item's ID repeated on each continuation row so every row is complete. Leave the
per-location columns off for a simple one-row-per-item stock list.
Filtering what you export
You can narrow an inventory export by:
- Stores — one, several, or all connected stores.
- SKU, Product title, and Barcode — text matches.
- Available and On hand — quantity comparisons (for example, on hand less than 5 for a low-stock list).
- Location name — items stocked at a given location.
- Tracked and Requires shipping — yes/no filters.
- HS Code, Country of origin, Province of origin, Cost, and Created / Updated dates.
The filter you set on an inventory export is part of that export and is independent of whatever filter you last used on the Inventory dashboard.
Exporting from the dashboard vs the wizard
The Inventory dashboard has an Export button (the Export Builder) for a quick, single-entity export scoped to what you're looking at — Current page, Filtered, Selected, or All inventory across your stores. The Export Wizard is the place for multi-entity exports and scheduled bundles. Both share the same columns, templates, formats, and destinations.
Scheduling
Any inventory export can be saved as a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule instead of a one-time run; each run rebuilds from live data. See Scheduled exports.
Tutorial: export a stock-on-hand report across all locations
- Open Exports → New export (
/exports/new). - In Step 1, tick Inventory and click Next.
- In Step 2, keep Simple columns. Make sure SKU, Product title, Available, and On Hand are selected. To see stock per location, also tick Location name and Location on hand.
- Optionally add an On hand filter (for example, less than 5) for a low-stock report, or a Stores filter to limit which shops are included.
- In Step 3, choose CSV or Excel and a destination such as Email.
- In Step 4, name it and click Run now, or Save as scheduled bundle for a recurring export.
Permissions
Exporting is gated by two permissions:
- View Exports lets a team member build exports.
- Download Exports lets them download the finished file.
Account owners always have both.
FAQ
Can I export Shopify inventory to Excel? Yes — choose Excel (.xlsx) in
Step 3. CSV is also available.
Are the quantities per location or totalled? Both — the main quantity columns are summed across locations; add the per-location columns to break the stock down one row per location.
Does the export include cost? Yes — Cost (unit cost of the item) is a Simple-mode column.
Can I export a low-stock list? Yes — add an Available or On hand filter with a comparison (for example, on hand less than 5) before you run.
Can I export inventory from all my stores at once? Yes — an export spans every connected store by default; add a Stores filter to narrow it.
Can I schedule an inventory export? Yes — save it as a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule; each run rebuilds from live stock levels.
