Events dashboard
The Events dashboard brings the activity timeline from all your connected Shopify stores into one list. Instead of opening each store and each order, product or customer to read its timeline, you get a single feed of what changed, on which record, and when — across every store.
Opening the dashboard
In the left sidebar, go to Content → Events, or visit /content/events
directly.
What you'll see
Each row is one timeline event, with these columns:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Created (UTC) | When the event happened. |
| Type | The event type (e.g. basic, comment). |
| Action | What happened (the event's verb / action). |
| Subject type | The kind of record the event is about (e.g. order, product, customer). |
| Subject id | The ID of the specific record the event is about. |
| Store | Which connected store the event belongs to. |
| Message | The event's message text, with any markup stripped and long entries truncated. |
Use the column picker to show, hide, and reorder columns, and set your default sort — the dashboard remembers your choice. You can also change how many rows show per page.
Filtering and searching
Narrow the feed down and turn common questions into one click:
- Stores — focus on a single store, or leave it off to see them all.
- Date — limit the feed to a time range.
- Subject type — show only events about orders, products, customers and so on.
- Subject id — see every event about one specific record.
- Event type and Action — filter to a kind of event or a specific action.
- Event id — jump to one event.
The search box matches inside the event message text, so you can find events that mention a particular word or reference.
Exporting
Open the Export Builder from the dashboard to download events as CSV or Excel. You choose the scope:
- Current page — just what's on screen.
- Filtered — everything matching your current filters.
- Selected — only the rows you tick.
- All events — the full timeline across your stores.
Pick the columns you want, and download. If you export the same shape regularly, save it as a template so it's one click next time.
Tutorial: build an activity report for one record across the time range you care about
A quick walkthrough of a common job — pulling the full history of one order, product or customer and handing it over as a file.
- Open Content → Events from the sidebar.
- Set the Subject type filter to the kind of record you're looking at (for example order), and put its ID in the Subject id filter.
- Add a Date filter to limit the feed to the period you care about.
- Click the Created (UTC) column header to sort oldest-first so the history reads top to bottom.
- Use the column picker to make sure Action and Message are visible so each row explains what happened.
- Open the Export Builder, choose the Filtered scope, pick your columns, and download a CSV or Excel — a ready-to-share activity log.
Permissions
Account owners always have access. For team members, access is controlled by the View Events permission — without it, opening the dashboard shows a "no access" message. Grant it from your team member's permissions.
FAQ
Does the Events dashboard show activity from all my stores at once? Yes — every connected store's timeline events land in one list. Filter by Store when you want to focus on a single store.
What kinds of events show up here? Shopify timeline events — the entries that appear on the timeline of orders, products, customers and other records. Not every change in Shopify emits a timeline event, so some edits won't appear as a row.
Can I see every event about one specific order or product? Yes. Set Subject type to the record's kind and put its ID in the Subject id filter to see only that record's events.
Can I export only the events I've filtered to? Yes. Open the Export Builder and choose the Filtered scope to export exactly what matches your current filters — or Selected for just the rows you tick.
Can team members see this dashboard? Only if they have the View Events permission. Account owners always have access.
