Exporting Discounts
Export your Shopify discounts to a CSV or Excel file — across one store or all your connected stores at once. Code-based and automatic discounts come across together, with their type, status, value, usage counts, and active dates, so you can audit promotions or reconcile usage in a spreadsheet.

What you can export
In Simple mode you pick from a curated list of the fields merchants export most. The key ones:

| Codes Count | Total number of redeem codes. |
| Usage Limit | Maximum redemptions (blank means unlimited). |
| Applies Once Per Customer | Whether each customer can use it only once. |
| Used | Async usage count — how many times it has been redeemed. |
| Starts At / Ends At | When the discount becomes active and when it expires. |
| Value | Percentage, fixed amount, or free shipping (available in the Value section). |
| Store | The store each discount belongs to, added when you export several shops. |
Template (Advanced) mode opens the full column tree — minimum requirements, what the discount applies to, Buy X Get Y details, free-shipping destinations, combines-with rules, plus metafields and admin timeline events — and lets you rename column headers.
One row per discount
A discount exports as one row per discount. If you add Event or Metafield columns, the export expands to one row per timeline event or per metafield, with the discount fields repeated on each row. The core fields (codes, usage, dates) stay a single row per discount.
Filtering what you export
You can narrow a discounts export by:
- Stores — one, several, or all connected stores.
- Status — ACTIVE, EXPIRED, or SCHEDULED (multi-select).
- Discount Method — CODE or AUTOMATIC.
- Discount Kind and Discount Classes — the concrete subtype and whether it applies to products, orders, or shipping.
- Starts At / Ends At / Created / Updated — date ranges.
- Used — filter by redemption count (for example, used more than 0 times).
The filter you set on a discounts export is part of that export and is independent of whatever filter you last used on the Discounts dashboard.
Exporting from the dashboard vs the wizard
The Discounts dashboard has an Export button (the Export Builder) for a quick, single-entity export scoped to what you're looking at — Current page, Filtered, Selected, or All discounts across your stores. The Export Wizard is the place for multi-entity exports and scheduled bundles. Both share the same columns, templates, formats, and destinations.
Scheduling
Any discounts export can be saved as a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule instead of a one-time run; each run rebuilds from live data. See Scheduled exports.
Tutorial: export all active discount codes with their usage
- Open Exports → New export (
/exports/new). - In Step 1, tick Discounts and click Next.
- In Step 2, keep Simple columns. Make sure Title, Codes, Usage Limit, Used, and Ends At are selected.
- Add a Status filter set to ACTIVE (and a Discount Method filter of CODE if you only want code discounts).
- In Step 3, choose CSV or Excel and a destination such as Email.
- In Step 4, name it and click Run now, or Save as scheduled bundle for a recurring export.
Permissions
Exporting is gated by two permissions:
- View Exports lets a team member build exports.
- Download Exports lets them download the finished file.
Account owners always have both.
FAQ
Can I export Shopify discounts to Excel? Yes — choose Excel (.xlsx) in
Step 3. CSV is also available.
Does it separate discount codes from automatic discounts? Yes — the Discount Method column and filter mark each as CODE or AUTOMATIC.
Does the export include how many times a discount was used? Yes — the Used column carries the redemption count (it may lag live usage by a moment).
Can I export just the active promotions? Yes — add a Status filter set to ACTIVE before you run.
Can I export discounts from all my stores at once? Yes — an export spans every connected store by default; add a Stores filter to narrow it.
Can I schedule a discounts export? Yes — save it as a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule; each run rebuilds from live data.
