Exporting Collections
Export your Shopify collections to a CSV or Excel file — across one store or all your connected stores at once. You get both manual (custom) collections and smart (automated) collections in the same export, with their titles, handles, publish state, product counts, and — for smart collections — the product conditions that decide what goes in.

What you can export
In Simple mode you pick from a curated list of the fields merchants export most. The key ones:

| Published / Published at | Whether the collection is published, and when it became published. |
| Products Count | How many products are in the collection. |
| Rule: Must Match | Smart collections only: whether products must match all rules or any rule. |
| Rule: Product Column / Relation / Condition | Smart collections only: the product conditions (for example vendor equals Acme). |
| Product: Handle / Title / Position | One row per linked product when these are selected. |
| Image Src | The CDN URL of the collection's featured image. |
| SEO Title / SEO Description | Search-engine title and meta description overrides. |
| Store | The store each collection belongs to, added when you export several shops. |
Manual collections carry linked products; smart collections carry Rules instead (the product conditions). Both live in the same export.
Template (Advanced) mode opens the full column tree — every publication field, image dimension, plus metafields and admin timeline events — and lets you rename column headers.
One row per product or rule
A collection exports as one row per collection by default. When you add
Product, Rule, Metafield, or Event columns, the export
expands to multiple rows — one row per linked product, per smart-collection
rule, per metafield, or per timeline event — with the collection's identity
repeated so each row stands on its own. A Row # and Top Row column help you
read which rows belong to the same collection. Large collections can add many
rows, so add these only when you need that detail.
Filtering what you export
You can narrow a collections export by:
- Stores — one, several, or all connected stores (and by store URL).
- Type — Automated (smart) or Manual (custom) collections.
The filter you set on a collections export is part of that export and is independent of whatever filter you last used on the Collections dashboard.
Exporting from the dashboard vs the wizard
The Collections dashboard has an Export button (the Export Builder) for a quick, single-entity export scoped to what you're looking at — Current page, Filtered, Selected, or All collections across your stores. The Export Wizard is the place for multi-entity exports and scheduled bundles. Both share the same columns, templates, formats, and destinations.
Scheduling
Any collections export can be saved as a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule instead of a one-time run; each run rebuilds from live data. See Scheduled exports.
Tutorial: export every collection with its product count
- Open Exports → New export (
/exports/new). - In Step 1, tick Collections and click Next.
- In Step 2, keep Simple columns. Make sure Title, Handle, and Products Count are selected.
- Optionally add a Type filter set to Manual or Automated to export just one kind, or a Stores filter to limit which shops are included.
- In Step 3, choose CSV or Excel and a destination such as Email.
- In Step 4, name it and click Run now, or Save as scheduled bundle for a recurring export.
Permissions
Exporting is gated by two permissions:
- View Exports lets a team member build exports.
- Download Exports lets them download the finished file.
Account owners always have both.

Can I export Shopify collections to Excel? Yes — choose Excel (.xlsx)
in Step 3. CSV is also available.
Does the export tell manual and smart collections apart? Yes — filter by Type (Manual or Automated), and smart collections carry their Rules (product conditions) while manual ones carry linked products.
Can I export which products are in each collection? Yes — add the Product columns and the export expands to one row per linked product, with the collection fields repeated on each row.
