Exporting Blogs
Export your Shopify blogs — the containers that hold your articles, like "News" or "Company blog" — to a CSV or Excel file, across every connected store at once. This is the blog containers export; for the individual articles inside them, see Exporting Blog Posts.

What you can export
In Simple mode you pick from a curated list of the fields merchants use most. The key ones:

| Template Suffix | Liquid template suffix used to render the blog index page. |
| Tags | The blog's tags, comma-separated. |
| Created At / Updated At | When the blog was created and last changed. |
| Store | The store the blog belongs to (name, domain, or email), resolved from your store list. |
Switch a blog to Template (Advanced) mode to open the full column tree, including per-metafield and timeline event columns and renamed headers.
One row per blog
By default each blog is a single row. If you add per-metafield or per-event
columns (from the Metafields or Events sections), the export expands to one
row per metafield or event, repeating the blog's ID on each continuation
row. If you'd rather keep one row per blog, use the summary columns instead —
Metafields and Events each have a count and a compact summary column
that fit the whole set into a single cell.
Filtering what you export
Narrow the export to the slice you want. The available filters are:
- Store — one or more connected stores.
- Title and Handle — contains-match on the blog's title or slug.
- Comment policy — moderated, auto-published, or closed.
- Template suffix — the Liquid template used.
- Tags — contains-match on the blog's tags.
- Created / Updated date — a date range or a shorthand like the last 7, 30, or 90 days.
The wizard's search box matches the blog title. The filter you set here is part of the export and is independent of whatever filter you last used on the Blogs dashboard.
Exporting from the dashboard vs the wizard
The Blogs dashboard has an Export button (the Export Builder) for a quick, single-entity export scoped to what you're viewing — Current page, Filtered, Selected, or All blogs. Use the Export Wizard when you want blogs alongside other entities or on a recurring schedule.
Scheduling
Any blogs export can run automatically on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule — each run rebuilds from live data and delivers to your destination. See the exporting overview for how schedules work.
Tutorial: export every blog across your stores
- Go to Exports → New export (
/exports/new). - In Step 1, tick Blogs and click Next.
- In Step 2, keep Simple columns (Title, Handle, Articles, Comment Policy, Store are on by default), and add any others you want.
- Leave the filter empty to include every store, or add a Store filter to scope it.
- In Step 3, choose Excel and set the destination to Email.
- In Step 4, name it "All blogs" and click Run now.
- The file is delivered to your inbox; larger exports are queued and you get an in-app notification when they're ready.
Permissions
- View Exports — build and run blog exports.
- Download Exports — download the finished files.
Account owners have both. Grant them to team members from their permissions.
FAQ
Can I export Shopify blogs to Excel? Yes — choose Excel (.xlsx) or CSV in
Step 3. A combined multi-entity workbook is always Excel.
Does the export include the article count? Yes — the Articles (approx.) column gives the approximate number of articles in each blog. For the articles themselves, use Blog Posts.
What's the difference between Blogs and Blog Posts? Blogs are the containers (like "News"); Blog Posts are the individual articles inside them. They're separate exports.
Can I export blogs from all my stores at once? Yes — an export spans every connected store by default. Add a Store filter to narrow it.
Can I include a blog's metafields? Yes — add the metafield columns in Simple mode. Per-metafield columns expand the export to one row per metafield; the summary columns keep it to one row per blog.
Can blog exports run on a schedule? Yes — save the export as a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule and each run rebuilds from live data.
