Files dashboard
The Files dashboard brings the media library from all your connected Shopify stores into one list. Instead of opening each store's Content → Files to hunt for an image, check what's still processing, or find files nothing is using, you get a single view — with thumbnails — that you can filter, sort, and export.
Opening the dashboard
In the left sidebar, go to Content → Files, or visit /content/files
directly.
If a connected store is missing the access scope EcomSolo needs to read files, a small badge appears next to the menu item — open the dashboard and you'll see which stores need re-authorizing.
What you'll see
Each row is one file, with these columns:

| File Name | The file's name. |
| Alt | The alt text set on the file, when present. |
| File Type | Image, video, or generic file. |
| Format | The file's format, when recorded. |
| MIME Type | The file's MIME type, when recorded. |
| Status | Where the file is in processing (e.g. uploaded, processing, ready, failed). |
| Used In | Whether the file is referenced by a product (In use) or Unused. |
| File Size | The file's size, in a human-readable unit. |
| Store | Which connected store the file belongs to (shown when you have more than one store). |
| Created At | When the file was created. |
| Updated At | When it was last updated. |
Use the column picker to show, hide, and reorder columns, and set your default sort — the dashboard remembers your choice.
Filtering and searching
Narrow the list down and sort by any column, so the common questions are one click away:
- File Type — show only images, only videos, or only generic files.
- Status — find files still processing, or ones that failed to upload.
- Used In — surface files referenced by a product, or unused files.
- Format and MIME Type — filter by file format.
- Alt Text — find files with (or without) specific alt text.
- Created At, Updated At — narrow to a date range.
The search box matches by file name.
Exporting
Open the Export Builder from the dashboard to download files as CSV or Excel. You choose the scope:
- Current page — just what's on screen.
- Filtered — everything matching your current filters.
- Selected — only the rows you tick.
- All files — the full list across your stores.
Pick the columns you want, and download. If you export the same shape regularly, save it as a template so it's one click next time.
Tutorial: find unused files to clean up your media library
A quick walkthrough of a common job — spotting files that nothing references, so you can review them for cleanup, and handing the list to your team as a file.
- Open Content → Files from the sidebar.
- In the filter bar, set Used In to Unused to show only files that aren't referenced by a product.
- Add a File Type filter — for example Image — if you want to focus on one kind of media.
- Click the File Size column header to sort largest first, so the files taking the most space rise to the top.
- Use the column picker to add Alt and Created At so every row carries the context you need to decide what to keep.
- Open the Export Builder, choose the Filtered scope, pick your columns, and download a CSV or Excel — a review list you can share.
Permissions
Account owners always have access. For team members, access follows the relevant View permission for your account — if a team member can't open the dashboard, grant it from their permissions.
FAQ
Does the Files dashboard show media from all my stores at once? Yes — every connected store's files land in one list. Filter by Store when you want to focus on a single store.
What does the Used In column mean? It shows whether a file is referenced by a product (In use) or not (Unused). The Used In filter lets you list one or the other across all your stores.
Why is a file still marked as processing? Shopify processes uploads asynchronously. The Status column reflects the file's current state — use the Status filter to find files still processing or ones that failed.
Can I export only the files I've filtered to? Yes. Open the Export Builder and choose the Filtered scope to export exactly what matches your current filters — or Selected for just the rows you tick.
A store shows a warning badge next to Files — what does it mean? That store is missing the Shopify access scope EcomSolo needs to read files. Re-authorize the store and the badge clears.
