Smart Audiences
Smart Audiences is where you build and keep customer segments drawn from data across all your connected Shopify stores. Start from a ready-made audience or build your own, save it, and come back to it whenever you need that group — no rebuilding the same filter each time.
Opening the dashboard
In the left sidebar, go to Reporting → Smart Audiences, or visit
/audiences directly. My smart audiences under the same menu item shows only
the audiences you created.
What you'll see
Each row is one saved audience, with these columns:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name | The audience's title. Click it to open and edit the audience. |
| Schedule | Whether the audience refreshes on a schedule, with controls to pause, resume, or remove it. |
| Last viewed | When the audience was last opened. |
| Author | Who created it — Ecomsolo for the built-in starter audiences, or a team member for custom ones. |
| Pinned | Pin an audience to keep it near the top of the list. |
Ecomsolo-authored starter audiences are read-only templates you can open and work from; the audiences you build yourself can be renamed and deleted from the row.
Building and saving an audience
Use Create custom audience to start a new one. Give it a title, then open it to define the segment — the conditions that decide who belongs. Save it and it joins the list, ready to reuse. Because the data spans every connected store, one audience can describe customers across all your shops at once.
If you want an audience to stay current, put it on a schedule so it refreshes on its own, and pause or resume that schedule from the list at any time.
Filtering and searching
Use the search box to find an audience by name, and filter by Author to separate the built-in Ecomsolo audiences from the ones your team created. Sort by name, last viewed or author to bring the right one to the top.
Tutorial: create and save a custom audience
A quick walkthrough of the most common job — building a segment once and reusing it.
- Open Reporting → Smart Audiences from the sidebar.
- Click Create custom audience and give it a clear title.
- Open the new audience and define its segment conditions — the rules that decide which customers belong.
- Save the audience so it lands in your list.
- Optionally add a schedule so it refreshes automatically, and pin it so it stays near the top.
- Come back any time and open it from the list to reuse or refine the segment.
Permissions
Account owners always have access. For team members, building and editing audiences is controlled by the Manage Audiences permission, and scheduling by the Manage Audiences Schedules permission. Without the relevant permission, the corresponding action isn't available.
FAQ
Do audiences draw from all my Shopify stores? Yes — segments are built from data across every connected store, so a single audience can span all your shops.
What are the Ecomsolo audiences in my list? Those are built-in starter audiences authored by Ecomsolo. You can open and work from them; the audiences you create yourself are the ones you can rename and delete.
Can I keep an audience up to date automatically? Yes. Put it on a schedule so it refreshes on its own, and pause or resume that schedule from the list whenever you need to.
How do I find just the audiences my team made? Use the Author filter to separate custom audiences from the built-in Ecomsolo ones, or open My smart audiences from the sidebar.
Can team members create audiences? Only with the Manage Audiences permission. Account owners always can.
