Analytics

Analytics pulls sales performance from every connected Shopify store into one place. Instead of opening each store's own analytics and adding the numbers up by hand, you get combined charts for sales, orders, average order value and returns — with a date range you control and a compare period to measure the trend.

Opening the dashboard

In the left sidebar, go to Reporting → Analytics, or visit /beta/analytics directly.

What you'll see

The page is a dashboard of charts you can shape to your needs. The main areas are:

  • Controls row — a date range picker with an optional compare period, a Group by control (for example day, week or month), a chart type picker, and a toggle to show or hide the views and filters.
  • Views — save more than one dashboard as a tab, switch between them, create a new view, save the current one, or make a view your primary (default) dashboard.
  • Filters — narrow every chart at once by Store, Shopify Domain, Payment status and Fulfillment status.
  • Charts — the tiles that make up the dashboard.

Charts available include:

  • Sales over time, Gross sales over time, Net sales over time
  • Orders over time and Average order value over time
  • Returns over time and Returned items over time
  • Top selling products and Top selling products by units sold
  • Total sales by store and Orders by store
  • Total sales by sales channel and Orders by sales channel
  • Total sales by traffic referrer and Total sales by billing location

Customizing your dashboard

Use Customize to build the dashboard you actually want. In customize mode a chart library opens on the left — drag charts onto the grid, drag tiles to rearrange them, resize them, and remove any you don't need. Save when you're done, and the layout is remembered the next time you open Analytics. You can keep several dashboards as separate views for different questions.

Filtering and comparing

The filters and date controls turn the common questions into a couple of clicks — "how did all my stores do this month versus last month", "which store drove the most sales this week", "what's my combined average order value since the sale started". Set the date range, pick a compare period to see the trend, group by day or week to change the resolution, and filter by store when you want to focus on one shop.

Tutorial: build a combined sales dashboard across your stores

A quick walkthrough of the most common job — seeing how all your stores are performing together over a period you choose.

  1. Open Reporting → Analytics from the sidebar.
  2. Set the date range at the top, and turn on a compare period (for example the previous period) so each chart shows the trend.
  3. Use Group by to pick the resolution — day for a short range, week or month for a longer one.
  4. Leave the Store filter off to see every store combined, or set it to focus on one store.
  5. Click Customize, then drag the charts you care about — such as Sales over time, Total sales by store and Top selling products — onto the grid, and arrange them.
  6. Save the layout, and optionally Make primary so this dashboard opens by default.

Permissions

Account owners always have access. For team members, access is controlled by the relevant reporting View permission — without it, the dashboard isn't reachable. Grant it from your team member's permissions.

FAQ

Does Analytics combine data from all my Shopify stores? Yes — sales, orders and returns from every connected store are combined into each chart. Use the Store filter when you want to look at a single store.

Can I compare one period against another? Yes. Turn on a compare period in the date range picker and each chart shows the current period against the one you choose, so you can read the trend at a glance.

Why is a chart empty or lower than expected? A chart only reflects orders inside the selected date range for the stores that have finished syncing. Widen the range, clear the filters, or check that the store has synced, and the numbers fill in.

Can I save more than one dashboard? Yes. Save several views as tabs — for example one for daily monitoring and one for a specific campaign — and set the one you open most as your primary.

Can I change which charts appear? Yes. Open Customize, then drag charts from the library onto the grid, rearrange and resize them, and remove the ones you don't need. Your layout is saved for next time.
